SSU Spotlight: Alisha Seymour

Fitness transformation

Real talk, girl. If you’re anything like me, then you’re a liiittle suspicious of giving your time and energy to anything that claims to be a game-changer. When you’re busy being a boss-babe, you can’t afford to waste your time on things that don’t actually serve you! So as we continue our Summer Shape Up challenge, we want to reassure you that this process works, and as a result of your determination you can end up experiencing a total fitness transformation.

We figure that the best way to show you how fabulous this challenge can make you look and feel, is by letting some other LSF babes share what these challenges have done for them!

Meet our girl Alisha, aka @fierce_fit_ali on IG, who has been an LSF babe since the Refresh in 21 Challenge! She’s from Ridgefield, WA and has a 3 year-old son with her hubby. Growing up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Alisha loves travel and doing just about anything outdoors. Don’t believe me? She went skydiving for her bachelorette party and has summited two mountains….oh, and she’s completed four half-marathons!

Alisha says she always knew that moving her body was a good thing to do, but making it a daily habit proved difficult (uh, been there!). Once she started committing to working out for just 10 minutes a day with our LSF Daily 10 workouts, fitness began to become a crucial part of her routine. Now that Alisha has experienced this fitness transformation for herself, she feels more accomplished, has more energy, and feels more physically and mentally capable to tackle each day. Most of all, she’s realized how much her dedication to health and fitness serves as an example to her sweet kiddo!

Chatting with Alisha

“What has been my biggest struggle, that I am still overcoming, is the battle of finding the balance of my health, fitness, food and my overall weight-loss journey. Not only the physical battle, but most importantly the mental and emotional battle, especially when life gets hard.”

Alisha let us in on how events in her past have resulted in such a huge lifestyle change. She said, “I never felt more lost in my life than when I gained 30 lbs when I was 19 years old. My body changed and I didn’t understand anything…”

Similar to my own story that I’ve shared here, Alisha found herself in a place she never imagined, and had no idea how to get out of. However, for Alisha, things had to get even worse before they got better. “All this struggle and more came to a head in 2017 (I was 28 years old). I just gave birth to our son, and a few weeks after that I found a lump in my right chest/armpit area. A week later I was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. Everything stopped. I fought a good fight for 6 months and with our new little baby, my life flipped upside down. Chemo, radiation, and 2 different hospitalizations later I finished my treatment with flying colors and went into remission.

My word during that time was “fierce” hence my IG name “fierce_fit_ali“. I have fought and fought and fought with all that is within me to have a healthy, happy and fulfilling life after cancer. I am more healthy than I have ever been, and I workout and stay active constantly for the first time in my life.”
Not only has this amazing lady’s journey changed the way she lives each day, but it’s changed how she views the future as well. “I am still learning and growing in my knowledge of health, wellness and food [but] cancer taught me to keep fighting for my health and to never give up. Since then, I can’t stop fighting for myself, my family, friends and the LSF Team. I want to be the best version of myself and truly learn to accept and love myself so in return I can love others well.”

Alisha’s advice to anyone else looking for their own health and fitness transformation is to resist the urge to give up, and to keep fighting for what you believe in. She’s learned the tough way that the hard times in life are what help define your strength and willpower to keep going, so it’s important to surround yourself with a community who love and support you while you work to find that fierce flame within yourself! Hopefully Alisha’s journey to her most healthy and fit self is as compelling to you as it is to us (we’re not crying, you’re crying!), but if there’s still any doubt in your mind that the LSF community can change the way you think, look, and feel, just keep an eye out for more stories like Alisha’s, or search our hashtag #TeamLSF on Instagram to check out other boss babes’ fitness journeys. We, along with Alisha and our other LSF babes, will be here to support and cheer you on every step of the way!
